HD Video: Hammer Tutorial – Basic Lighting by Lukas Orsvärn

Light

This is getting weird, where do all these tutorials come from? It’s like they’re spawning from the depths of the Internets just to end up on YouTube. Or perhaps I made them? Either way, the next tutorial is now here!

It’s about the three basic lighting entities, I hope you enjoy.

Max introduction by Max

I’m finally here. This is long overdue, and somewhat lacking its original purpose, but i’m finally writing the introduction. (After a few pushes from here and there, you know who you are.)

I’m supposed to “introduce” myself in a witty, interesting and thought provoking way. But i realized that it would be too much to ask from a person like myself so i’ll try to just write whatever the hell i can come up with.

In short, i’m a curious person, living the younger part of my life. I like most things and have a propensity to aquire an interest in any or most subjects. Especially if there’s women involved, something that i won’t admit. But alas, i digress.

I try to keep an open mind to most things, avoiding to judge others, and generally act nice around fellow people.  I also kill kittens and hobos in places where nobody can see nor hear me, often using the afromentioned kitten to silently bash the lonely wanderer to death when he expects it the least.

Oh, yeah, i’m also a frequent user of sarcasm, making wierd jokes;  whoring for attention. No, i’m not. But you get the picture. Or you don’t. Maybe. Right?

Among the three of us (The other two being Niraganda( Daniel Johansson )  and Silverfish( Lucas Orsvärn ) ) i consider myself being the one with the dominant technical interest. I spend alot of time developing software and i generally enjoy the game development scene even though that’s not where most of my time ends up.

Me and the guys have a few minor projects going on that might will turn up here if we and or i ever get around to finishing them, they are all mixed up in a great big haze right now but in the end;  something will emerge.

I’m hoping this blog will work as a source of knowledge, debate and humor to whoever comes across it and that we aren’t being taken too seriously. This is the internet after all.

HD Video: Hammer Tutorial – Real and Fake Doors by Lukas Orsvärn

OMG DOOR

Woot, another tutorial! In this one you learn how to make real and fake doors in the Source engine. If you give me feedback on it either on this site or on YouTube, you shall recieve one piece of newly baked cookie. You know, that kind with chocolate chips in them, so delicious…

Oh, right, blog post, sorry about that.

You can download the zipped .vmf file here: sf_tutorial_door
And here’s the video:

This time I decided to use the newer version of Hammer and will do that for all upcoming tutorials. It’s just got some slight differences but it’s basically the same, so don’t worry.

The Human Pondcast 01 – First Try by Lukas Orsvärn

Alright, we made a podcast! And it’s one hell of a podcast at that! We talk about all sorts of different games like the Heroes of Newerth beta, Borderlands and The Last Remnant.

Actually, that’s all the games we talk about, but that doesn’t take away from the awesomeness overload found in this very first episode of The Human Pondcast!

The Human Pond Group Videos & Audio – Mod DB

It’s not really at the level of awesome we’re aiming for quite yet, but I’d say it’s a good start.. Right?

The purchase by Niraganda

The package arrived,i payed for it, i brought it home,i opened it, and inside were….the stuff.

if you are confused now you should read my previous entry about the upgrades to my gaming equipment i was going to purchase, just scroll down its down there somewhere. i have faith in you.

Now if you know what im talking about you know that i orderd a Razer Lachesis and a Razer goliathus mousepad, the reason of this upgrade is that my copperhead were getting a bit rusty. frequently zooming in and out of scopes when i press the right mouse button in fps games driving me INSANE. and the left button did not register the klick when you pressed it on special places, mostly the middle and the lovely klicksound has also evaporated making it very hard to notice if you actually klick or not.these might be minor annoyances for you but for me they are important.

I havent used the mouse enough to give a whole review so but il try my best. the mouse is a genuine Razer mouse,a company known for their gaming equipment quality and general awesomeness. the Lachesis features many nice features such as up to 4000 DPI, twice as much as my copperhead. a 3g precision laser, 32 kb onboard memory for profile storage,16-bit ultra-wide data path and much more. the mousepad is a controll edition and i chose it because the Lachesis with its 4000 dpi is the second fastest mouse on the market as of today, seconded by the wireless Razer Mamba, you might now ask why i did not buy the mamba instead. there are 2 reasons.

the first is the price,  the mamba is FUCKING EXPENCIVE and since i dont have a job (yet) i simply cannot afford it. the second reason is that it is a wireless mouse, i loathe wireless equipment. every time i see a wireless keyboard or mouse my soul roars with anger. but now you might say “Nira your an idiot the mamba is a hybrid mouse with a cord that you can connect” but then i say “shut up fool”  i am not forgetting anything and i would have bought the mamba and used the cord if i had the money, but i didnt, so il have to settle with the lachesis. not that im sad its an amazing mouse with the power of the drivers that come with it. and i actually installed them this time. i didnt bother with my copperhead untill i thought it might be smart but i had already lost the cd.

Now I did some research before i ordered the mouse and I was surprised of how many idiots there were that had bought the mouse, alot of people complained about the design of the mouse and it did not fit with their grip. i imminently noticed that they used the wrong grip….sadface/facepalm. The Lachesis is a claw grip mouse and nearly all reviewers used the normal palm grip. i noticed that i for some reason use the claw grip normally so i thought it was an appropriate mouse to buy. For more info on the grips check here.

I took some pictures with my LG viewty for your enjoyment. And yes i know im not a photographer genius. its a cellphone people, it cant get better.

MTA 1.0 Released by Lukas Orsvärn

Multi Theft Auto
Multi Theft Auto, a mod adding multiplayer functionality to GTA: San Andreas was just released.

The multiplayer mods for GTA:SA are known to be buggy, but I have always believed that MTA would turn out to be the best one. They seem to have a better sense of quality in their mod than for example SA:MP. Well, I’ll get to see how good it is as soon as I have tried it out, stay tuned as I will post my first impressions here when I have.

Blacksector releases new media by Lukas Orsvärn

Wraithportrait

The third person Half-Life 2 mod Blacksector have released some new media on ModDB. I suggest you check it out, it’s looking awesome.

The story involves some unknown dudes called the Wraith coming to earth, it turns out they’re assholes.. Well, the story isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s good enough if you just wanna pop a cap or two in someone’s face.

They’ve also got some cool wallpapers in their downloads section on ModDB, is it your cup of tea?

Niras log, stardate 100809 by Niraganda

I’m sorry for the lack of posts, but I’ve been very busy doing absolutely nothing. I’ve been up to nothing interesting and have had nothing to share. But nevertheless let me fill you in.

So i was at a mates house yesterday for a bbq, it was quite fun despite lack of people (you know who you are). we ended up playing Dota to the middle of the night, I came home around 3:30 in the morning.

Other things I’ve been up to are playing more games, some of them are fallout 3,  Turok, Prototype, Assassins creed and bioshock. So more reviews will come when I get around and finish them.

Since my wow account went out I’ve searched for a fun new mmorpg to play for some days to get my fix and I found one called Ether saga, if you’ve played flyff you will recognize it, i wont talk to much about it because i cant be asked to since its an mmo but a nice feature in it was that it was surprisingly easy, on a level/quest basis and with klick-on-map-to-go-there feature etc. it was sweet for the time I played it and you can find out more here Ether Saga .

Other new things are in the anime section, I’ve found a new and really nice sub group for my Naruto episodes. they are called Taka fansubs and did a fantastic job on the kakashi gaiden special episode a few weeks ago. My future downloads will be from them and yours should too. I also found a new anime from the old guys who subbed naruto called Element Hunters. Hers the short review:

its kinda like pokemon, but instead of catching the animals (did I mention that they are not cute like the actual pokemons?i think monster is more fitting) 3 teens beat the CRAP out of them with some kind of gun thingy and then collect an element it absorbed with a pokedex ripoff thing. its also kinda like megaman since they can use the elements they have to damage new ones.

Tbh this anime has allot of flaws for me, and as kind as I am I will list them, right here:

Bad voice acting, one character had a lisp, now I not saying that lisp is bad but it just takes some of the cinematic effect away. like trying to listen to an audobook read by someone who studders. and the main character guy just does not seem motivated enough. his voice sounds half assed done.

Its drawn weird, The trios limbs are just weird, they have long thin legs and arms. it kinda creeps me out .

Not enough body fluids, I’ve seen 4 episodes and so far no blood, it seems its made for someone between 11-16, but its just started and as I’m writing this post thers only 6 episodes out there, the rest future episodes will determine if I will continue to watch it (imho for now it does not look like it)

So there you have it folks, until next time

Niraganda
